Dear Friends,

We are proud to once again bring you the latest news and updates from Sourcing Bali and our ever increasing range of suppliers.

It has been a busy start to the year with lots of client visits in February, and even more for March and April. It's great to see, and we thank you for your great support.

In this edition of Sourcing Bali News we present our latest website uploads, new restrictions for exporting, new regulations for packing materials and ETO fumigation, as well as details of forthcoming holidays, staff updates and our community care programmes.

We thank you your ongoing support of Sourcing Bali, Rim Cargo and Hospitality Essentials.  We work hard to provide the very best service that we can, and we welcome your feedback and suggestions as to how we can improve.

Warmest regards
Desmond & Crew

New Regulations for ETO Fumigation - Aust / NZ

Effective 1 March 2008, charges for ETO (Ethythene Oxide) fumigation will increase from USD. 50.00/ cbm  to USD. 55.00/cbm

We received a letter from Badan Karantina Pertanian (The Indonesian Agriculture Quarantine Office) that AQIS has revised the Cargo Container "Quarantine aspects and procedures" on 1 December 2007. One of the points is wood packaging materials to Australia and NZ.

In accordance of new rulings the quarantine office instructed the exporter to follow the following requirements :

All wood packagings must be treated in accordance with ISPM#15.
All wood packagings  that have been treated in accordance with ISPM #15  AND MARKED  with ISPM#15 must be provided with a  PACKING  DECLARATION from ISPM provider or Phytosanitary Certificate (PC). In the PC, it must mentioned that " all timber packing is marked in accordance  with ISPM 15". (Fumigation  cost is charged for Fumigation AQIS + ISPM marking+ISPM Packing declaration).
If the wood packaging that have been treated in accordance with ISPM#15 BUT NOT marked with ISPM#15,  must be provided a PC that states " all timber packing has been treated in accordance with ISPM 15". (Fumigation  cost is charged for Fumigation Aqis  + Phytosanitary ).

Fiji Direct - Bali's ONLY consolidated freight service to Fiji

This means that our Fiji customers can enjoy heavily discounted rates and SAVE on volumes for their smaller shipments to Fiji.  NO OTHER COMPANY provides this service from Bali.

Ordinarily, an LCL shipment - (less than container load) - is crated in Bali, trucked to Surabaya (loaded and unloaded) then shipped to Singapore to await other goods to be sent to the same destination, in a shared container (loaded again). This means that the space of the crate is approx 15-20% larger than the items inside, since the goods need to be secured, as they will be sent to other third parties for handling.

With Fiji Direct - there is no crating required (unless particularly fragile) since the goods are packed by our crew, loaded into our consolidated container in Bali, shared with ONLY our clients in Fiji, and handled ONLY by our appointed agents in Fiji.

Volumes are less when loaded directly into a container, since there's no excess space for crates.  Shipping is quicker, since no waiting at Singapore for other consignees is required, AND the price is over 40% cheaper !!

Sourcing Bali has over 20-30 clients in Fiji who regularly buy / ship from Bali to Fiji, enabling us to share these savings with our customers.

This service is available through Sourcing Bali or RIM CARGO - customers do not need to buy products through Sourcing Bali in order to get these great deals for Fiji Direct.

*Fiji Direct is a registered brand of PT Sourcing Bali and is operated in conjunction with Williams and Gosling in Fiji.  For more information, email sales@rimcargo.com or sales@sourcing-bali.com

New Crew

We've been busy these past few months, expanding our divisions, and increasing the crew.

New to RIM CARGO is Riki Pratama - our new Operations Manager.  Riki will be responsible for the co-ordination of the collection notices for our customers, allocating trucks, drivers and crews to handle the pick ups, as well as co-ordinating the warehouse space.

New to Sourcing Bali / Hospitality Essentials is Prawita Wiramaputeri as Sales Executive.  Puteri is responsible for generating sales for this division, meeting with hotels, restaurants and spa's in Bali and handling overseas email inquiries as well.

Puteri

Also new to HE is Febi Pamungkas Sindhukusumah as designer.  Febi has a lot of experience designing accessories and homewares and is a welcome addition to the design team.  We now have three full time designers on the crew, and they are all kept busy with custom-designs for our clients.

Febi

We extend a very warm welcome to Riki, Puteri and Febi.

Upgrades

We've recently made changes to our office at Sourcing Bali and Rim Cargo.

At RIM, we've added asphalt to the road way in front of the warehouse - we've been waiting 2 years for the council, but with no answer in sight, we did it ourselves.  The area is now wide, clean and means smooth driving for our trucks.

At Sourcing Bali, we've made a change to the position of the stairs, extended the offices of Hospitality Essentials and soon we'll be increasing the showroom space as well.

PLUS, to accommodate the increase in crew, we've had to upgrade our service provider for satellite internet - since were up to 18 users on the network - and we have no land lines in this village !

December visit

Just a few days before Christmas, we closed the offices early and all of the SB/RIM crew paid a visit to our friends at the Children's home. Thanks to the generosity of supporters around the world, we bought shoes, socks and clothes for the kids and a new set of sporting equipment.

It was great to see the smiles on their faces, and we couldnt have done it without the great support of Francesca, Gary, Paulo, Paul, The Moss's etc etc..

We have been supporting the Childrens home / orphanage since 1998 - and over the years we've built bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, storage rooms, sewerage tanks, retaining walls, basketball courts as well as supporting the kids with school supplies, clothes etc.   If you would like to assist us with this or any of our community care programmes, please email desmond@sourcing-bali.com

All funds recieved go directly to the cause.  NO money is ever handed out, we purchase equipment, pay for building works - never cash.  This way, we know that 100% of the money is being used for the people who need it.

Yadi - A special report

Many of you may have received our emails and messages concerning Yadi, a cousin of one of our crew whom we have been supporting.  Yadi was severely burned 15 years ago in a motorcycle accident.  Together with friends from around the world, we  were able to raise enough money to have surgery, and extend his fused legs, thus enabling him to walk.

Initially, the surgery was reported as successful, with the left leg extended fully, whilst the right leg was extended 80%.  2 weeks after the operation however, a blockage in the blood supply caused a major haemorage and cause the lower left leg to deteriorate. Sadly, Yadi has had the muscles from the back of his lower left leg removed, and more, urgent surgery is required.  The next round surgery is scheduled for next week.  I will send you reports on his progress.

On behalf of Yadi and his family, I want to say a very special thanks to all the very generous friends around the world and in Bali - some of whom donated the much needed AB+ blood required for him last week.

Yadi has gone home this weekend to be with his family to get mentally prepared for the next surgery.  Unfortunately, he will need to be immobilised for 3-4 weeks after the surgery, as blood vessels from his left leg will be irrigated from the right leg. it will be awkward, inconvenient, painful and sadly, the last resort.  We need all the support we can to ensure the success of this operation.

If you are able to assist with donations for Yadi's surgery and hospital costs - please send funds (details below)  and state YADI DONATION.  We will ensure that this goes diretcly to Yadi's hospital expenses.
